Opening Circle / Orientation / Connecting and Intros (Various Presenters): We welcome each other into the camp community and go over the nuts-and-bolts of camp culture and logistics. Let's find out who's here and what we have to offer each other! We'll spend much of the time moving around, meeting new folks and deepening existing relationships.

7 Minute Dates: This fun, interactive, facilitated experience invites campers to pair up for 7 minutes to share more of themselves and get better acquainted. In the course of the activity, there are various criteria offered by the facilitator to encourage campers to explore their edges and take risks around attraction to and assumptions about others.

Early Morning Yoga and Meditation:  A space will be available for this, led by camp attendees, as desired.

Morning Circle: We start each camp morning with a circle to re-connect and learn about what's happening that day at camp. We offer appreciations to each other. This is a time to express any concerns or needs of a logistical nature. Announcements are made about karma yoga duties, the day's schedule, and descriptions of the workshops.

The Forum: is a group process developed at the German community ZEGG to provide a stage for whatever is happening inside the person: one's true motivations, deep feelings, ideas and emotions. The Forum helps facilitate transparency, sharing and clarifying unsolved situations of daily life, and it can be a catalyst for one's own personal growth.

Boundaries: Sacred Yes Sacred No

with Tracy Matfin and David Bruce Leonard

Differentiation • Boundaries & Desires • Honest Appreciations & Clear Requests.  How many of us say “yes” to things we don’t actually want out of guilt or a fear of losing connection?  In many ways, “no” is the most daring and intimate response possible – if I can hear your “no”, I can trust your “yes.”  We’ll practice the skills of self-awareness, transparency, and non-attachment, which help us find the space of mutually desired connection that is available with each person. An important and fun orientation to our basic guidelines on relating to each other during camp.  If you are a  new camper, make sure not to miss it!

Playing with Selection: Patterns & Synchronicity
with Kalama Becker

How do we select our partner(s)? This session will explore this question from biological, psychological, social, communicative, and spiritual perspectives.

After a brief introduction to each paradigm and what it offers us about partner selection, an interactive activity will be offered for deeper exploration.

Safer Sex Information and Conversations,

and Entering the Temple- Amara Karuna and others

In a sex-positive and body-honoring community, we have a responsibility to educate ourselves on how to keep ourselves safe while having fun. We’ll go over the latest medical information, and practice talking with community and prospective partners about these issues.

We will explore the guidelines for participating in the Temple space, where we can be openly sensual in a respectful and safe environment.  If you have never been to a temple at camp, this workshop is required in order to enter the space.

Going to the temple is completely voluntary.  It might include spending time with one or more friends in an intimate way, or sharing in a workshop that has to do with healing, massage, etc.  There are guidelines for sharing this space in a way that is safe and comfortable for everyone, and following these guidelines is a requirement for all temple participants.

Temple space opening events will take place for the first 1/2 hour every night. including massage and sensual meditations by Amara, David, Iolani and others.

Divine Inter Play

with Iolani Deva

With breath, intention, and movement, we will connect deeply with our innermost selves and then with each other and then with nature. We will tune into our connection to the aliveness of all life. (People, plants, animals, energy)

We will dance and tone and breathe and end in a big yummy cuddle puddle.

Connection: Healing our Bodies, Minds and Souls with Joy:

 with Tracy Matfin

Connections are the most important tool we have to increase our own personal joy reservoirs and raise our vibrations. Come join Tracy in exploring a variety of connections that can be done during camp!

Finding True Intimacy

with Melekai Matson

We are all looking for love and connection.  It is a basic human need.  However, most of us get stuck in relationships that don’t seem to provide the intimacy we want, or spend years searching for “the one” or a compatible person to share life with.  While there is nothing wrong with this, many of us don’t realize that the source of true intimacy, and ultimately what we are all looking for, is right inside our own hearts, bodies, and souls.

This two hour workshop is beyond any spiritual platitudes or New Age affirmations that may point to what we are seeking.  We will journey into the body, into the edges of the soul, where we will hang out with the parts of our personality that feel afraid of intimacy.  We will gently give attention to the parts of ourselves that may still be unconscious or simply uneducated, and guide ourselves into the heart of our own soul.  Therein lies true intimacy…..This is what the Buddha meant when he shared the Four Noble Truths; we will uncover the roots of our dissatisfaction and rediscover the source of our bliss…right inside of our own hearts!

Snuggle Meditations and Sound Healing

with Amara Karuna and Alasandra Star

Closeness, awakening, presence, deep relaxation, nurturing touch, peace, consent- rolled all together at once. And combined with the sound of singing bowls, this is amazing!

Where is the elusive boundary where one person ends

and another begins?

What happens when we dwell together in stillness and silence?

What happens when all the performance pressure is off, and are just together with no agenda but presence?

Snuggle Power: A certain kind of deep, sub-conscious healing happens simply by being close, and letting our hearts and breathing synchronize.

Meditation: A deep harmonizing of all the chakras and energies happens when we engage in meditation.

Putting both these powerful things together creates amazing transformation.

Open Sessions
Open Sessions are an opportunity for campers to convene dialogue groups on topics they've been wanting to explore, or create group massages, or do a music jam together.

Prem Ananda

I always love playing with energy. As I child I was enamored with the power of Nature and spent hours of each day exploring the wonders She has to share. Later I learned to play with electricity and make it with the Sun, Wind and Water. I’ve enjoyed being an example for women, and anyone, who wants to have energy independence and freedom to make their own electricity.

After about 10 years, I decided it was time to take it to a more personal level and began a career as a hypnotherapist. Guiding people through the process of tapping into their personal power, and turning negatives into positives, excites me. Sometimes this takes us on journeys thru the veil to past lives. I also learned to channel the healing power of the Reiki Masters and have had the honor of being a student of our local Kahuna Harry Uhane Jim, learning to channel healing energy through lomi lomi, laulima, and ho’opono pono. With these gifts in my toolbox, I am honored to guide you on your journey of empowerment and transformation.

Catherine Kalama Becker is an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Hawaii, Hilo where she teachers courses in Interpersonal and Family Communica-tion, Sustainability, and Leadership. Her research is on Cultural Transformation. She has facilitated workshops designed to assist people in listening to themselves and one another at the Network for New Culture Camps and in Japan.

She created, Mana Cards: The Power of Hawaiian Wisdomin order to offer individuals and groups a tool for expanding consciousness and deepening communication while exploring Hawaiian culture and spirituality. Additional influences for this session includeHAIPaul Lowe, and David Schiffman.
